CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

 

The Centenary Celebrations of Shri. Ramnath Devalaya was held with joy at the prestigious Shri. Ramnath Devasthan, Ramnathi, Ponda-Goa.

In 1905, the pontiff of Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt, H.H.Shrimad Indirakant Teerth Swamiji installed the LaxmiNarain and other deities as existing today in the month of Phalguna (Shudha Dashmi). Thus, completing 100 years on Sunday, 20th March, 2005. 

Celebrations began on Sunday, 13th March, 2005 on completion of the ‘Mahashivratri Utsav’.   

Various religious events were organized for 8 days with a concluding ceremony on Sunday, 20th March, 2005. These religious functions include the Pradosh Pooja, Durga Namaskar, Satya Narain Pooja, Varad Shankar and Kumkumarchan from Monday to Friday between 4:00p.m to 7:00 p.m. ‘Atirudhra havan’ was held for 8 days with ‘Purnahuti on 20th March 2005. All the above poojas were performed by the President, Dr.Rajan V.S.Kunkolienkar along with his wife Mrs.Hansa R.S.Kunkolienkar. There were various ‘palkhis’ and cultural programmes during the late evening session.

The entire occasion was blessed by the presence of H.H.Shrimad Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swamiji of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt.


H.H.Shrimat Shivanand Teerth Swamiji of Gowdpadacharya Kaivalya Mutt visited the temple on Saturday, 19th March 2005 and was welcomed with a Padyapooja by the President Dr.Rajan V.S.Kunkolienkar along with his wife.

The highlight of the Centenary celebrations was the concluding ceremony held on Sunday, 20th March 2005 in the presence of H.H.Shrimad Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swamiji of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt. H.H. Swamiji lighted the traditional lamp. Shri.Shrinivas Dempo, President of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt; Shri.Damodar N.Naik, Vice President of the Mutt; Dr.Rajan V.S.Kunkolienkar, President Ramnath Devasthan, Shri.Venkatesh Pai Angle, Secretary Ramnath Devasthan, Shri.Mohan Kirtani, Treasurer Ramnath Devasthan, Shri.Prakash Bhat, Purohit Ramnath Devasthan and Shri.Bhaskar Nayak, Master of Ceremony were present on the dais. Distinguished guests and other senior Mahajans and Kullavis were felicitated at the hands of H.H.Swamiji by giving a silver replica of the deities. H.H.Swamiji speaking on the occasion mentioned about the role of Mahajans in maintaining the sanctity and traditions of the temple. Swamiji expressed their happiness and appreciated the work done to beautify the temple to suit the occasion.


The Mahajans expressed their gratitude towards Swamiji by offering them a golden replica of the deities. A book “Shree Ramnath” written by Shri. Shridharanand P. Angle was also released on this occasion.

Mahajans/Kullavis from Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala and other parts attended the function in large numbers.

Late evening there was ‘Naukavihar’ of deities with display of fireworks. This marked the conclusion of the Centenary Celebrations.
